The network for Houston, TX area bands on the internet.

What (if any) interaction do the different musicians/local music scene groups in the Htown area have?

H.A.A.M - Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians
H.B.C - Houston Band Coalition?
Guitar Houston
GoGirls

Just wondering. Seems to be a lot of different groups trying to accomplish the same things.

I think that the big thing is to get involved everywhere. Corss promote with the other bands that are on the same bill. Work with bar owners rather then against them.

Dude,

I'm with you on this.

Can we get together in a room and talk this out? Huh?? Pretty-Please?

BN,

I feel you. This is exactly why I'm here. I want to improve the situation; be part of a solution. I guess we SHOULD join them all.

I think WE are the way. Check it.
If I can get my Jazz & Blues band members to come to your show, BAM! You've already surpassed the three you got from MySpace. Shewt, what if I can get a couple Jam/Garage band members to come support?

You guys have accepted me. You are posting events and inviting us out to them. You are giving us updates on cancellations. We are doing it; just on a small scale.

Ramp that up and convince your members to come see my little Jazz quartet sometimes. Get it?

WE BANDS CAN SUPPORT EACH OTHER and our rooms don't look so empty. Who knows, we may find that we LIKE what these other genred bands are doing!

I KNOW we can do a LOT together. Divided, we get what we got now.

I am Tyson and I approve this message.

Peas,
Tyson

Hey Tyson,

You have great ideas and are active here on the site. Much more than I can say for most. How can I help? Let me know when, where your little jazz band is playing and I will come support you.

Let's stand together and support our home town and our musical life.

Peace
Mike

Tyson,
You nailed it. Dogs and cats living and playing together.

Whay can't there be a show where there is a heavy metal band, a country band, jazz band and a few others? I really don't think that the fans of one will turn on the fans of another. In fact, at the few shows that I've been to where the bills are a little left of center, the fans of say the hard rock guys hang out, listen to and in many cases, react very favorably to the "non-rock" acts. I would assume that the jazz fans would hang out for the rock guys as well.

At the end of the day, if you're a music fan, you appreciate good music. Maybe Jazz isn't you're particular brand of Vodka but you appreciate it when it's performed well.

Case in point, I'm not the biggest country fan in the world, I appreciate it but I'm not a big fan. In the course of going out to see friends bands and just listening to some different folks, I have been turned on to some incredible music in that genre. Still not a "country fan" but I now have some of those acts that I heard along with some mainstream acts on my ipod and I really look forward to going out and seeing some good country bands now.
